Business Development Associate (BDA) – Sydney

Platinum Pacific Partners’ client is a distinguished and revered name in the asset management arena. Their expertise extends across actively managed equity funds, offering superior service and investment success to institutions, financial advisers and direct investors.
Due to growth, they are looking to appoint a Business Development Associate. This is a first-rate opportunity to join a sophisticated organisation with strong investment pedigree and one that exhibits a high performing culture alongside a dynamic work environment. Working alongside senior stakeholders within the sales channel this is a strategic and analytical role where you will be responsible for supporting the distribution team in generating sales. This support is a combination of research, competitor analysis, operational responsibilities, data analytics and proactive sales & relationship management work. You will work effectively across the business and build collaborative relationships across the group.
We seek applicants ideally with asset management experience who have consistently demonstrated that they are at the top of their peer group and who are keen to take the next step in their career in distribution.


  • Client and Prospect meeting management – liaise with Business Development Managers (BDM’s) on targets and schedules
  • Sharing client service responsibilities with the Sydney based Distribution team as well as the Head of Research Relationships
  • Spearhead sales reporting
  • Assist the Head of Distribution with various reporting tasks for strategic accounts and the board where needed
  • Develop expertise of the fund and market knowledge through the careful study of internal and external publications
  • Handle client service requests
  • Use Morningstar to develop and build client and fund analysis for distribution team
  • Assist with presentations materials and logistics of client meetings or video conferencing
  • Assist with any future external sales and marketing events
  • CRM management (sales force)


  • Tertiary qualifications (preferably in Commerce/Business/Economics/Accounting) will be highly regarded
  • Ideally 3/5 years’ experience in asset management, sales or client service experience is highly regarded
  • Outstanding relationship management skills and high-level PowerPoint excel spreadsheet and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with Institutional Data Providers like eVestment, Morningstar, and MandateWire preferred
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to operate without supervision on a proactive basis
  • Ability to identify and understand sophisticated client needs and respond in a timely, professional manner
